Playing the scale one after another can get boring fast. The tenth interval is going ten notes of the scale up from where you are (count the one your starting on as 1!). Intervals are a great way to get used to seeing and hearing the scale better. Snippets of this exercise can build solo ideas to and great songwriting ideas. “Scar Tissue” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers use this and “Blackbird” by The Beatles!

The 10th is just the 3rd moved up an octave, so if you’re looking for the minor, just move it down one half fret!
