Oh no, the M word. I try to break down the modes into simplified concepts on how you can use them. To learn scales over the fretboard, I like the CAGED system. You might have something that makes sense to you, but let’s start thinking about the modes as they’re own scales. We have two types of scales: Major & Minor. They each have their subset:
Major – Ionian – Mixolydian – Lydian
Minor – Aelian – Dorian – Phrygian
I also try to show you how you can find out if you need them! I have videos explaining how to play the modes using the CAGED shapes so this is all about knowing how to use them.
