So we know all these cool slash chords… how do we use them? I go through 3 common ways in which you can start incorporating them into your arrangement of a song or a song you’re writing.

1) Between I (1) – IV (4) Chords
Ex: 1 – 1 as a slash chord – 4

2) Replace V (5) Chord as Slash Chord
Ex: 1 – 5 as a slash chord | 5 as a slash chord – 1

3) Whole Chord Progression Dictated It’s Implied Bass Line
A – E/G# – G – D/F# – Dm/F – E – A

How do we find our I – IV Chord Progression?
I Chord Root is on the 6th String – IV Chord Root will be on the same fret on the 5th String.
I Chord Root is on the 5th String – V Chord Root will be on the 6th String, two frets lower.

How do we find our I – V Chord Progression?
I Chord Root is on the 6th String – V Chord Root will be two frets higher on the 5th String.
I Chord Root is on the 5th String – V Chord Root will be on the 5th String, same fret.

Have fun and let me know if you have any questions!
