What a classic song, example of amazing rhythm playing and a very tasteful and memorable solo. He’s tuned down a half step, but I’m in standard tuning. Jimi bases a majority of this solo on the Em Pentatonic Scale then uses some outside notes to outline some chords. For example: a C note over the C chord then outlines a triad over the G and F’s chords towards the end of the solo. Here are the chords the solo takes place over:

Em – G – Am – Em – Bm-Bbm-Am – C – G – F – C – D

Long chord progression but well worth it!
