‘Tis the season and although I’ve done songs utilizing just about every chord and concept I’ve gone through, I’ve somehow never done the “Freddie Green Chords” in context… so here we go! “Mele Kalikimaka” in the Key of D.

You don’t have to use the Freddie Green Chords I go through here, you can use normal open/barre chords, Extended Chords or 7th Chords but the Freddie Green Chords give it that classic feel that’s true to the original by Bing Crosby.

I go through it in 8 measure chunks and break it up into four parts:

Part 1
D6 – D6 – D6 – D6
D6 – Ddim – A7 – A7

Part 2
Em7 – A7 – Em7 – Bbdim
G/B.A7 – G/B.A/C# – D6 – D6

Part 3
Am7 – D7 – G6 – G6
B7 – B7 – Em7 – A7

Part 4
D6 – D6 – D6.C7 – B7
Em7 – A7 – D6 – D6
